Emily Windsnap and the Monster from the Deep is the sequel to The Tail of Emily Windsnap by Liz Kessler. It was first published in 2004.
This story is told in two parts. It switches from Emily to Mandy (and uses different fonts to show it, just as in Philippa Fisher's Fairy Godsister).
Emily Windsnap is now on Allpoints Island with her reunited family and her best friend Shona. Their new friends Marina and Althea show them around the place and tell them of a cave that no one has ever dared to go into. Emily convinces Shona to go into the cave with her, not knowing that they have made a BIG mistake.
Mandy, on the other hand, has been drugged and cannot remember why Emily left so suddenly. The pier she lives on may be torn down and her parents are strapped for money. Mandy's father then enters a competition for a holiday and wins, which is called Mermaid Tours, which go to the Bermuda Triangle, which is where Emily is. They work together to fight the monster.
